Visa-compliant cover

Health insurance for expats in Spain

Most Spanish long-stay visas require private health insurance. We help you choose a fully visa-compliant policy and get your certificate ready in time for your appointment.

Required for most visas

Student, non-lucrative and digital nomad visas usually need private cover with no copays.

Proof in 24–48h

Get your insurance certificate fast, in Spanish, ready to upload for your visa appointment.

Do I need health insurance for a Spanish visa?

For most long-stay visas — student, non-lucrative residence and digital nomad — yes. Spain requires private health insurance with full coverage and no copays, valid for the duration of your stay. We confirm the exact requirement for your specific visa.

What makes a policy "visa-compliant"?

A compliant policy has full medical coverage, no copays, no waiting periods and is valid throughout Spain. The certificate usually needs to be issued in Spanish for your consulate appointment. Some international policies qualify if they meet all of these conditions — we check yours before you book anything.

Private vs public health insurance in Spain

Public healthcare is excellent once you're a resident and contributing, but it generally isn't available for the initial visa application. That's why a private, visa-compliant policy is the standard route to enter and settle legally, with the option to use the public system later.

How does it work? (3 simple steps)

1) Tell us your visa type and start date. 2) We recommend a fully visa-compliant policy through our partner InnoInsure. 3) You receive your certificate in Spanish, ready for your appointment.

How fast can I get proof for my appointment?

In most cases your certificate is issued within 24–48 hours of taking out the policy, so it's ready well before your consulate date.

Why arrange it through us?

We only point you to policies we know are accepted for Spanish visas, with support in English and fast Spanish-language certificates — so there are no rejections or last-minute surprises at your appointment.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask us before they relocate to Spain. Still unsure? Book a free consultation.

Sagrada Família in Barcelona — living in Spain
Can I relocate to Spain without speaking Spanish?

Yes. Many of our clients arrive with little or no Spanish. We handle the paperwork and communication in English, and we can arrange optional Spanish lessons to help you settle in faster.

How long does the student visa process take?

It usually takes from a few weeks to a couple of months from application, depending on your consulate and the time of year. We help you start early and prepare every document so you're not held up by avoidable delays.

What is the Digital Nomad Visa in Spain?

It's a residence permit for remote workers and freelancers whose income comes mainly from outside Spain. It lets you live in Spain legally while working remotely. We check your eligibility and guide the whole application.

Do you also help families with children?

Yes. We support full family relocations — including dependent visas, finding schools and family-friendly housing — so the whole family lands smoothly.

Can I live outside Madrid?

Absolutely. We're based in Madrid, but we help you relocate anywhere in Spain — Barcelona, Valencia, the coast or smaller towns. The visa and paperwork process is the same wherever you settle.

Can I work in Spain with a student visa?

A student visa can allow limited part-time work under certain conditions. We explain exactly what's permitted for your situation so you stay fully compliant.

How difficult is it to find housing in Spain as a foreigner?

It can be competitive in big cities, especially before you have a NIE or a local guarantor. That's why we help with temporary stays for your arrival and then a long-term search — so you're never apartment-hunting blind from abroad.

Do I need health insurance to relocate to Spain?

For most long-stay visas, yes — private, visa-compliant health insurance with no copays. We help you get a compliant policy and a Spanish-language certificate in time for your appointment.
