Yes — a 120-hour TEFL is essential. It's what French language schools hire on, it strengthens a TAPIF application, and it's almost impossible to find work without one. Ours is live, observed and part of your program.

Yes, via three routes. TAPIF is the government assistant program with visa sponsorship (7 months, 12 hours a week). A student visa (VLS-TS) lets you study and work part-time, up to around 964 hours a year. Or register as an Auto-Entrepreneur to freelance legally for schools and private clients. EU citizens simply arrive.

No. EU/EEA citizens have full freedom of movement — you arrive, apply directly to language schools, and start teaching. We help with the local paperwork like your titre de séjour and CAF housing subsidy.

TAPIF (Teaching Assistant Program in France) places English speakers in French public schools for 7 months, October to April, teaching 12 hours a week. It pays a stipend of around €790 a month plus visa sponsorship and health cover. The pay is modest, so many assistants add online teaching in euros — with us, up to €1,500 a month more.

Private language schools pay about €1,200–€2,000 net a month full-time; public, international and university roles reach €1,700–€4,000; TAPIF pays around €790. Business English and private tutoring pay €25–€50 an hour. As a TEFL Madrid graduate you can also teach online for our academies and add up to €1,500 a month in euros.

Paris is pricey (around €1,800–€2,400 a month), but the provinces — Lyon, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Marseille — are far more affordable, with shared-flat living from about €900 a month. France's CAF scheme also reimburses part of your rent, typically €100–€200 a month.

Yes. Most teachers start with no experience, and France is known for letting youth and enthusiasm count at entry level. Your live 120-hour TEFL covers methodology, lesson planning and hands-on practice in real classrooms before you teach on your own.

Not in the classroom — you teach entirely in English. But French matters for daily life and admin, and TAPIF specifically requires B1-level French. A little French goes a long way, and we include practical survival-language support.

Peak hiring for language schools is September and January, and the school year runs September to June/July. TAPIF runs on a fixed cycle (October–April) with a spring application deadline. Being in France to interview in person before a peak makes a real difference.
