- Tarea 1 – Integrated Writing (resumen y contraste)
- Tiempo total: 20 min
- Lectura: 3 min (texto académico)
- Audio: 2–3 min (clase/conferencia)
- Objetivo: explicar cómo la conferencia refuta, matiza o apoya la lectura. Sin opinión personal.
- Longitud sugerida: 180–230 palabras (calidad > cantidad).
- Tarea 2 – Independent Writing (ensayo argumentativo)
- Tiempo: 30 min
Plantilla ganadora (adaptable)
Introducción (1–2 frases)
- The reading claims that X for three main reasons. However, the lecturer challenges these points by providing evidence that…
- First, the passage states that… In contrast, the lecturer explains that… This undermines the reading because…
Párrafo 2 (Razón 2 vs. audio)
- Second, the author argues that… Nevertheless, the speaker points out that… Therefore…
Párrafo 3 (Razón 3 vs. audio)
- Finally, the text suggests… Yet, the professor clarifies that… As a result…
Cierre (1 frase, opcional)
- Overall, the lecturer’s evidence weakens the reading’s claims.
Claves: nada de opiniones personales, evita citas textuales largas, usa paráfrasis y conectores de contraste (however, in contrast, nevertheless, whereas, on the contrary).
The reading argues that elephants possess exceptional memory supported by three points. However, the lecturer disputes these claims with counter-evidence.
Párrafo 1
First, the passage says elephants never forget routes to water. In contrast, the lecturer explains this behavior results from habitual migration patterns and social learning rather than individual memory.
Párrafo 2
Second, the reading suggests elephants recognize humans they met before. Nevertheless, the speaker notes that such recognition is often misinterpreted and may depend on scent cues, not advanced memory.
Párrafo 3
Finally, the text claims elephants recall complex past events. Yet, the professor clarifies that studies show inconsistent results and small samples, so the evidence is weak.
Cierre
Therefore, the lecturer’s points significantly weaken the article’s argument.
3) Tarea 2 – Independent Writing: persuade con método
Estructura sólida y flexible
Introducción (2–3 frases)
- Presenta el tema + tu tesis directa.
- I strongly believe that universities should be free because…
Cuerpo 1 (Razón 1 + ejemplo específico)
- First,… For example,… → datos, caso país/ciudad, experiencia concreta.
Cuerpo 2 (Razón 2 + ejemplo/mejora)
- Second,… For instance,… As a result,…
(Opcional) Cuerpo 3: contraargumento + refutación breve
- Some argue that…, however,…
Conclusión (1–2 frases)
- Refrasea la tesis + proyección/beneficio final.
- Therefore, governments should…
Mini-ensayo modelo (resumen)
Pregunta: ¿Las universidades deberían ser gratuitas?
Intro: Higher education should be free because it expands equal access and strengthens the economy.
C1: Access: low-income students can enroll; e.g., in Germany completion rates improved…
C2: Focus: without tuition stress, students invest time in research and internships…
Contrargumento (opcional): Costs exist, but targeted taxation and graduate contributions can sustain budgets.
Conclusión: Free universities promote equality and long-term growth; policymakers should implement phased plans.
Claves: tesis explícita, ejemplos concretos, conectores variados (first, moreover, consequently, in addition, admittedly, nevertheless, ultimately), y una idea por párrafo.
4) Gestión del tiempo (cronograma por tarea)
|
Tarea |
Planificación |
Redacción |
Revisión |
|
Integrated (20 min) |
3–4 min (leer/escuchar → mapa 3 puntos) |
13–15 min |
2–3 min |
|
Independent (30 min) |
5–6 min (lluvia de ideas + esquema) |
19–21 min |
3–5 min |
Checklist de revisión rápida (ambas tareas)
- ¿Hay tesis/propósito claro en la intro?
- ¿Cada párrafo tiene 1 idea central + ejemplo?
- ¿Conectores y paráfrasis suficientes (evitar repetir palabras clave)?
- ¿Errores críticos de gramática/puntuación? (sujeto-verbo, artículos, comas)
- ¿Cierre breve que redondea la idea?
5) Lenguaje que suma puntos (y qué evitar)
Haz:
- Varía conectores: however, whereas, consequently, furthermore, notably, in addition, moreover, as a result, therefore, in contrast.
- Usa paráfrasis: important → crucial, significant, essential; show → demonstrate, illustrate; say → state, claim, argue.
- Estructuras limpias: It is widely accepted that… / There is strong evidence that… / One compelling reason is…
- Complejidad controlada: If-clauses, relative clauses, participial phrases (sin abusar).
Evita:
- Repetición obsesiva de la misma palabra.
- Frases larguísimas sin puntuación.
- Ejemplos vagos tipo “many people think…”.
6) Errores comunes (y antídotos)
|
Error |
Impacto |
Solución práctica |
|
Incluir opinión en Integrated |
Baja de contenido |
Solo reporta lectura vs. audio |
|
Copiar frases del texto/audio |
Penaliza originalidad |
Paráfrasis + vocabulario sinónimos |
|
|
Párrafos mezcla de ideas |
Confunde al lector |
1 idea principal + ejemplo por párrafo |
|
Sin tiempo de revisión |
Errores tontos |
Reserva 2–5 min finales sí o sí |
7) Plan de estudio de 4 semanas (Writing-first)
Semana 1 – Fundamentos
- Integrated: 3 prácticas (plantilla + contraste claro).
- Independent: 2 ensayos cortos (300–350 palabras) con tesis visible.
- Meta: dominar estructura y tiempos.

- Rúbrica casera (0–2): tesis, cohesión, vocabulario, gramática, timing (total /10).
- Meta: estabilidad y reducción de errores.
8) Micro-ejercicios diarios (10–12 min)
- Conectores con propósito (3 min): sustituye 3 “and/but” por conectores avanzados.
- ETS Samples/Topics — temas y respuestas modelo oficiales.
